Squash: Yemisi Olatunji Excited To Be Back In Action After L

Nigeria Squash Empress, Yemisi Olatunji has expressed her absolute delight at making a winning-return to the court.

Olatunji Sr. squared off with Blessing Isaac at the women's final of the 5th PSPAN Open Tournament at the Eko Club in Lagos last Sunday as squash activities in Nigeria returned - albeit on a low key.

The 26-year-old cruised to victory 3-0 (11/2,11/4,11/1).

"All glory back to God," Olatunji told AllNews in an exclusive chat.

"I feel so excited winning my first tournament of the year after a long holiday because of COVID-19."

Meanwhile, in the men's category of the 5th PSPAN Open Tournament, Gabriel Olufunmilayo defeated AbdulRahman Lanre 3-1 (11/8,11/7,11/13,11/9) to emerge the overall winner of the 5-day event.

Olufunmilayo, of Kwara State, is among the top three best-squash-playing athletes in Nigeria - as per the current Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF) rankings.

Who is Nigeria squash star, Yemisi Olatunji?

Igbara Odo Ekiti-born Olatunji is currently ranked No. 127 in the world.

She is expected to represent Delta State if and when the National Sports Festival eventually hold.

Olatunji was named Racket Sportsperson of the Year, Nigeria Sports Awards 2018.

Widely regarded as Nigeria's queen of the court, Olatunji has amassed points in the PSA.
