The Commandant of the Western Security Network Agency known as Amotekun, Oyo, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd) has reacted to the shooting of a police officer by one of its officers identified as Ibrahim OgundeleAllNews Nigeria reports that the Oyo State Amotekun Commandant confirmed the shooting of a police officer saying that it was an accidental discharge. In a recent press statement, Col. Olayinka Olayanju said the officer did not intentionally shoot a police officer, Fatai Yekini.

2. Billionaire Transporter, Ekene Dili Chukwu's Son Dies Of COVID-19

The son of billionaire transporter, Ekene Dili Chukwu, Augustine Ilodibe Jnr, has died from COVID-19 complications. This was issued in a recent statement signed by the deceased's brother, Obinna Ilodibe on behalf of the family. The deceased died of the COVID-19 complications on Monday at the age of 42. The statement read, "With great sadness, we announce the passing unto glory of our dear son, husband, father, brother and uncle, Ekendilichukwu Augustine Chukwunonso Ilodibe (Junior) who died this morning (Jan 4) from complications of COVID-19 in Lagos.

3. Only Taliban, ISIS Will Want To Invest In Kaduna - Omokri Claims

Reno Omokri, an aide to erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan has claimed that only Talibans and ISIS will want to invest in Kaduna. Omokri who made this claims in reaction to the recent move by Nasir El-Rufai Kaduna state governor to clampdown on the organizers of Kaduna Sex Party said that anyone that invests in Kaduna state must have a demolished brain.

4. New Year: PDP Calls For A Change Of Narrative In 2021

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for a change of narrative in Nigeria as the new year begins. Making this call in its new year message, the party charged Nigerians to step into 2021 with a renewed zeal despite the challenges that rocked the year 2020. According to Ayodele, for PDP to win the upcoming election, it should take advantage of APC’s weaknesses.

Amaka Ekwo, a former Press Secretary of Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being an oil thief, AllNews reports. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) activist, a now-outlawed group canvassing for the sovereignty of Eastern Nigeria, however did not expound a powerful argument for her allegation. Ekwo, while disagreeing with a tweet by fellow activist, Aisha Yesufu who insists she doesn't regret campaigning against former president, Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, opined that 'GEJ' is a better leader compared to President Buhari.

9. Atiku Speaks On Why He Sold Intels Shares

Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and co-founder of Integrated Logistics Services Nigeria Limited (Intels) has revealed why he sold his shares in Intels and redirecting his businesses through reinvestments. AllNews had reported that Atiku in a statement issued on Monday, January 4, 2021, by his media aide, Paul Ibe disclosed he was forced to sell off his shares in Intels because the Muhammadu Buhari administration has been “preoccupied with destroying” it since 2015. He said in a terse statement that there should be a difference between politics and business.

10. MTN Nigeria Planning To Expand Rural Connectivity

MTN Nigeria has said it will extend telecommunications coverage to millions of Nigerians living in underserved and unserved communities nationwide through its rural telephony programme. According to a statement by the company, over 20 million Nigerians live in areas with limited or no coverage, which MTN aims to change. Through the rural telephony programme, which kicked off this year, the firm said it had identified over 3,000 locations across the country for a phased rollout over three years.
