Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has said that he didn't start Timo Werner in the English Premier League (EPL) match against Manchester United, because he wants him "fresh for the fixture against Liverpool".
Chelsea and Manchester United played out a goalless draw, with the London club missing the chance to climb back into the EPL’s top four.
Former RB Leipzig man, Werner has rarely started on the bench for the Blues - but he found himself among the replacements at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
"We had the feeling to give Timo a little break, to have him from the bench and also fresh for the fixture against Liverpool," Tuchel said when asked about his team selection, including why another attacker came in for Werner.
"I felt him a little bit tired after many games in a row.”
