António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) on Friday called for the immediate and unconditional release of abducted students in the North-Western region of Nigeria.
Guterres, who strongly condemned the recent mass abduction of students in the country by unknown gunmen said he is deeply saddened to learn of yet another mass abduction of students from a school in Nigeria. Read more here.
Rescued students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanism in Kaduna State have been escorted by security operatives to pick their belongings and vacate the institution environment.
The students arrived at the school on Saturday morning on military trucks, while some parents were on the ground to pick their wards and take them home. Read more here.
Kidnappers who abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, have requested a ransom of N500 million to release the students.
Kidnappers have attempted to stage another mass abduction in a secondary school and also attack the staff quarters of aviation workers in Kaduna.
