2023: INEC Ordered By Court To Resume Voters Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered by the Federal High Court in Abuja to immediately resume the Continuous Voters Registration until 90 days before the 2023 general elections.

The order was given on Tuesday and while delivering judgement, Justice Inyang Ekwo instructed the electoral body to make sure that eligible citizens are not deprived of the opportunity to their voters card for the forthcoming poll. Read more here.

Naira Notes: President Buhari To Unveil New Design — Emefiele

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has disclosed that the designs for the N200, N500 and N1,000 notes will be unveiled on Wednesday, November 23, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Emefiele made the disclosure on Tuesday during the apex bank’s Monetary Policy Committee monthly meeting in Abuja. Read more here.

Okada, Keke NAPEP Operators In Lafia Risk Jail Terms As Councilors Pass Bill

A bill to regulate the operations of commercial motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke NAPEP) in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State or risk jail term has been passed by the area's Legislative Arm. 

The Speaker of the House, Philibus Yohanna Attah announced the passage of the bill on Tuesday during plenary in Lafia for the assent of the Chairman, Aminu Mu'azu Maifata, into by-law.  Read more here.

Governor Sule Okays Absorption Of Over 100 NSHA Casual Staff 

Governor Abdullahi Sule has approved the absorption of over 100 casual staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA). 

The Speaker of the state Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe made this known on Tuesday during the presentation of the 2023 appropriation bill by the Governor in Lafia.  Read more here.

The Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), an umbrella body of all recognised and chartered professional institutes, institutions, associations and societies has described the high cost of food as worrisome.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday officially opened the Kolmani Integrated Development Project in the Kolmani River II Oil Field, which is situated in a border town between the states of Bauchi and Gombe.

Buhari expressed happiness over the discovery of 500 billion cubic feet of gas and over one billion barrels of oil in the Kolmani area, as well as the enormous potential for more deposits since exploration efforts had been stepped up. Read more here.

South Africa: Security Operatives Intercept, Arrest 23-Year-Old Man With Bag Of Explosives

The Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal intercepted and arrested a 23-year-old man with a bag of explosives in a fully laden taxi in Umhlanga while en route to Durban's CBD on Tuesday.
