The only woman on federal death row in the United States, Lisa Montgomery has been executed by lethal injection. The execution took place at a prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, after a last-minute stay of execution, was lifted by the Supreme Court.
Her execution made her the first female inmate to be put to death by the US government since 1953 and is the 11th execution since the Trump administration resumed use of federal capital punishment in July after a 17-year hiatus. Read more here.
